Students & Professionals: Expertise, Framing, & the Campaign
A framework composed of Robert Ennis's Critical Dispositions and Everett Rogers Diffusion Theory was used to guide the creation of our system. This project focuses on increasing critical thinking skills while motivating students who are merely ready to know to become ready to act.
This animation demonstrates student interaction with the tool caddy. In this instance, the highlighter tool is selected to highlight a specific body of text. The system saves all student-generated annotations for later reference.
This animation shows behaviors of the search function. An expert tagging system allows students to make more informed decisions about the quality of a resource based on understanding of whom that expert is and what the student's intent is for using a specific resource.
Chatting options within the system allows students to connect with experts at any point throughout the research, creation, or publication processes. Students are given the opportunity to make a decision on which expert would be best able to answer their question by providing insight into their background and experiences. Chats are then saved within the system for later reference. As demonstrated in this animation, experts are able to view the students screen, therefore an understanding of where the students are in their research process is effortless, making the start of the conversation seamless.
This animation illustrates the behavior of the interface after the book is selected for research. Hyperlinked text provides further insight into definition of words and expert research tips.
